Patrimoine augmenté

With an increase in single parents families, indicated by a divorce rate of 41,5% and a rapidly growing population of senior citizens, now comprising 19% of the population, the traditional housing model faces challenges furthermore exacerbated by the land's inherent non expandability In response to this problem, « Patrimoine Augmenté » is transforming a dilapidated building into intergenerational housing by densifying its space. Located in the Grottes district of Geneva, this project is in keeping with the spirit of the latter: social, supportive and protective of the built environment. The residential space is densified and enlarged by an extension. The adjacent renovated workshop continues to operate. The renovation offers flexible, intimate spaces that can be adapted to different family patterns: modular, scalable rooms thanks to a system of pivoting doors that redefine spatial configurations. Rooms vacated during shared custody can be rented out. The apartments are oriented towards large common spaces, encouraging sharing and exchange of services within this intergenerational cohabitation.
